Succession Planning - Lessons from the Athletic Field of Play

Our guest speaker, Joe Bailey, is the Managing Partner for RSR Partners’ Global Sports Leadership Practice. He will speak to us about SuccessionPlanning: Lessons from the Athletic Field of Play.
Joe has had hands-on experience with virtually every aspect of business and sports, having served as: Chief Executive Officer of the Miami Dolphins, Deputy Commissioner of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Interim Commissioner of the Big East Athletic Conference, COO of the World League, and VP of Administration for the Dallas Cowboys. Joe has also build and led the Global Media, Sport and Entertainment recruiting practice for Russell Reynolds and Heidrick & Struggles.
Joe believes that, no matter the industry, organizational size, scope, or mission, succession planning is a critical component of an overall talent strategy. And this is never more apparent, or more important, than in Sports. On the field of play, any player, at any time, is under threat of being hurt, temporarily knocked out of the game, or withstanding a season-ending injury; though their teams must continue to play the game. And yet many Fortune 500 companies are caught quite off-guard and unprepared when a senior official announces their retirement.
Come hear Joe’s insights about challenges, approaches, and ideas around successful succession planning.
We look forward to seeing you there.
